February 23, 2009
Dear Friends,
Monday is the new Wednesday. After nearly 11 years of leading prisoners in Bible study on Wednesday nights at the Navy Brig at MCAS Miramar, the study has been moved to Monday nights starting tonight, February 23. One of the other religious groups requested the change, and I was eager to make it. The Chapel Choir rehearses on Wednesday, and so choir members will now be able to participate in our Bible study.
The Chaplain’s assistant (RP) is also working on making it possible for Brig volunteers (me) to visit inmates during the weekend visitation hours. This is something that has been forbidden since early 2005, but other recent changes may make it favorable to bring this back. I am working with the RP to allow other folks to visit inmates on the weekend also. Many inmates never receive visitors. A few people from local churches have indicated an interest in visiting. I am not allowed to connect strangers to inmates, but the RP may be able to find a way. These two things would expand the ministry significantly. Please pray that God would bring them about.
Over the last two months, I have developed a new website for the ministry. There, I’ve posted newsletters from the past couple of years. Go to www.hebrews13-3online.com and click on “newsletters” if you need to catch up on things you may have missed. There’s also an aerial photograph of the Miramar Brig at the bottom of the “biography” page.
Your donations and prayers continue to be an encouragement to me in this important ministry.
Sincerely in Christ,
Ben Conarroe
